Frequently Asked Questions
Not at all! Riding an e-Bike is a breeze, even if you haven’t been on a bike in years. Our e-Bikes are designed to provide a smooth and effortless ride. With the electric-assist feature, you’ll have an extra power boost as you pedal, making it easier to conquer hills and cover distance without breaking a sweat. It’s like having your own personal cheerleader on two wheels! So, whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a casual rider, our e-Bikes rentals are perfect for everyone to enjoy. Try it and experience the joy of riding without the extra effort.
Yes! We always encourage people to ride directly from our shop. This will save you money as you’re not burning time for the E-Bike rental while in transit. You can also rent an eBike for 2 hours instead of 4 hours if that fits your schedule and needs better.
We are located on Sherman Ave, between Vertical Earth and CDA Cider. We have plenty of parking in the back parking lot for you. You can rent the eBikes and start your adventure when you leave our store. You can hop on the Centennial Trail in just a few minutes.
Using a seated position on a stand-up paddle board? Absolutely! Don’t let the name mislead you—stand-up paddle boards are versatile enough to accommodate sitting. It’s quite common and offers a range of possibilities. Whether you prefer a leisurely picnic paddle or a workout session, sitting on your paddle board is entirely up to you. If you’re new to SUPs, we suggest starting in a sitting position to get a feel for the board on the water. Once you’re comfortable, try standing up. Embrace the freedom to paddle your way and make the most of your stand up paddle board rental experience with us. We’ll see you out there!
Yes! Absolutely. An e-bike is a great way to get the whole experience of the Route of the Hiawatha. Most folks only get a partial experience of this trail. They start at the top, ride down to Pearson at the bottom, then take the shuttle back to the top with everyone else. While that is fine, riding an e-Bike on the trail will enable you to ride back to the top easily! Our favorite route is to start your day at the bottom, ride up to the top at Taft, then coast back down.
While we allow our e-Bike rentals to be used on the Route of the Hiawatha, we don’t allow them to be put into the shuttles. You’ll need to arrange your transportation or, even better, ride both ways! We have Yakima bike racks available for rent if you need a way to transport the bikes.
We recommend always wearing a life jacket on a paddle board or any other watercraft. Idaho law states that kids 14 years and younger must wear a life jacket while on a stand up paddle board. Idaho law also requires a life jacket per person to be on the SUP. Wearing your life jacket is certainly the smart approach to staying safe on your paddle board.
Gear Garage CDA provides a life jacket with each stand up paddle board rental. We give you everything you need to have a blast out on the lake with the SUP!

If you’re starting on one of our SUP rentals, we suggest leaving the phone in your car or back on the beach until you’ve got the hang of it. No one wants to lose their phone on vacation!
If you decide to bring your phone with you on the SUP, we have some advice and tips for you.
- Protecting your phone from water damage is essential if it is not waterproof. We recommend using a waterproof phone case or a dry bag specifically designed for water activities. Several waterproof phone cases are available with a strap you can secure to the board or have around your neck.
- Secure your phone to the board with a leash. If your phone or phone case doesn’t float and gets dropped into the lake, that’s a recipe for a bad day.
- Consider using a waterproof camera like a GoPro or an Insta360 instead of your phone if it’s not waterproof.
Our stand up paddle board rentals have multiple locations to easily attach a phone leash.
With these precautions, you can enjoy your paddleboarding adventure without worrying about your phone’s safety. Plus, you’ll have some sick photos to share when you get back home! Make sure to tag us on social media too 😉
